Goliath – Beat The Odds

MEET GOLIATH

January of 2019 his family of 8yrs was faced with a sad situation, they needed to surrender their family pet. Goliath was signed over to City of Troy Animal Control and then released to New Leash On Life Rescue.

We learned that this big, sweet boy was heartworm positive and diagnosed with hypothyroidism. For one month, we searched for the best foster home for him while he waited patiently at the vet’s office in boarding. Finding a foster home that can accommodate the needs of a heartworm positive dog isn’t the easiest task, these dogs need to be kept very calm during the 4 month long treatment. Four weeks into his boarding stay, a lovely family stepped up to foster and possibly adopting him when he was healthy.

Once we had a foster in place, heartworm treatment began and he started medication to help with his underactive thyroid, a medication he will need for life. Both of these conditions are very costly and necessary. Goliath was on his way to living a healthy life because of our wonderful donors and community who supported him.

Goliath is a true testament as to how important it is to ask for help when you need it! We all understand how difficult times may be when faced with unforeseen circumstances. Goliath is exactly why New Leash on Life Rescue is dedicated to helping residents of Lincoln County care for their pets when they can’t! Goliath went from homeless, heartworm positive, adopted and heartworm negative in 6 months. Goliath has made a huge transformation and is living a healthy, happy life. He has a wonderful home, a big yard to play in and a loving family that takes very good care of him.

Sometimes in life the toughest decision ends up being the best decision, Goliath is living proof of that.
